In 2008, the owners of Bushwick Center retained HMD Healthcare Design for the challenge of updating two early 1900s buildings, which at the time were housing chronic care nursing home residents. These facilities are now bright, cheerful, and welcoming. They include a rehabilitation wing, dialysis unit, and nursing home/Alzheimer’s care floors.
The previously dark, dismal basement before construction is now a bright, open O.T. / P.T. area, a well-lit colorful corridor, and a vivid dining room.
